Biography

If you make a reservation for a retreat at GilChrist, you will most likely see my name on the email signature, talk with me on the phone, or see my face when you arrive. I’ve always delighted in being able to connect people with the natural world in ways that allow them to experience their environment deeply and meaningfully. My undergraduate degree in psychology and environmental studies paved the way for this beautiful integration of two passions of mine. The principles of permaculture – earth care, people care, and fair share – also shape my approach to my work. Making rest and retreat more accessible for all is something I try to work toward.

I also do a lot of the behind-the-scenes logistics and administrative work at GilChrist: working with group retreat facilitators, handling billing, managing social media, keeping the website up to date, cataloging the library, and also pitching in with cabin cleaning and feeding the goats.

When I’m not at work, you can find me volunteering in my Three Rivers community, cooking and baking in my kitchen, taking in thought-provoking television and movies with my husband, or daydreaming about grand garden plans for my backyard.

15 minutes. The time it takes to check and respond to the morning’s emails. To walk your dog. To power nap. To put in a load of laundry. To read a lengthy editorial or a chapter in your current book.

What if you spent those 15 minutes differently? In ways that nourish you and, by default, the communities you move in — even professionally. We are sacred beings. Making time to connect with our divine source is as natural and as essential as breathing. Yet so few of us make time to do it on a daily basis.

“Imagination is evidence of the divine,” wrote poet and visionary William Blake more than 200 years ago. And yet we experience the world, imagine, and create through our very human bodies. In this retreat designed for artists and dreamers of every ilk, we will drop into the body and connect to the deepest parts of ourselves.

This retreat focuses on the teachings of the Saints and the need to nourish our meditation practice to grow. It is open to anyone interested in personal/spiritual growth. Generally, we have learned how to meditate and may have established a solid meditation practice. Now, we wonder about either the varied experiences we are having, or the total lack of experiences. We envisioned a golden path and a wonderful, blissful meditation journey.

Forgiveness is underrated and misunderstood! It is a remarkably potent tool that has come to us in wisdom literature as well as in current science. Healing effects have been documented in relationships, decreasing susceptibility to disease and increasing recovery from disease. Forgiving unleashes spiritual energy, opening connections within us, between us, God, and the planet. It sets us free. It’s a form of spiritual nurture and strength that unblocks our energy systems and keeps them flowing.

How often in our busyness do we close off from the wisdom of our bodies, emotions, and Spirits—or each other—for the sake of productivity or others' expectations?

This retreat offers a spacious opportunity for women of all faiths and backgrounds to uncover their inherent wholeness and explore it. When we take time set aside to reconnect with ourselves, the natural world, and the loving expansiveness that holds us all, we find nourishment.
