In the shifting cultural and religious landscape in the United States, people are expressing their spiritual needs in new ways and asking for spiritual care in various non-traditional settings such as neighborhoods, shopping malls, workplaces, airports, schools, police stations, and public events. New roles are emerging for chaplains – now often called spiritual care providers – to serve people’s diverse spiritual needs in various contexts. This proposed convening will further explore the evolving sector of chaplaincy by bringing together the Chaplaincy Innovation Lab’s senior advisors, members of their larger advisory group, and a few prospective new Fetzer partners who are working with chaplaincy in innovative ways.
